Loren Graber founded Digger Specialties, Inc. in 1984 in Bremen, Indiana. The company initially served the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. It now supports a dealer base that includes the entire central and eastern United States as well as most of the south. The mission of the company at the time of inception was to manufacture and sell the highest quality vinyl fencing and related maintenance-free outdoor products possible. The defining force for the continued success of the company was founded from a simple but very sound business principle. The company would maintain a posture of "customer first" and would always conduct business in the most honest and ethical manor possible, without exceptions. It was under these fundamental beliefs that Digger Specialties, Inc. began its operations and continues to operate to this day, committed to the philosophy that supports these five core principles:

These five fundamental principles have been the founding guidelines under which Digger Specialties, Inc. has operated and they continue to be the basis for our current operations and, we believe, the reasons for our continued success.

The quality of the product we deliver to the market place is of great importance to Digger Specialties to the point that we have included our commitment to delivering only the "highest quality products" to our customers in our mission statement. We have a multiple level Quality Assurance Program. Through inspection and testing, we are constantly checking and monitoring our products for consistency in quality and reliability. We have two sophisticated machines for controlling the quality of the products we will accept from our vendors and the quality of product we deliver to our customers.

VINYL PRODUCTS
We have a Spectrometer for measuring color content and brightness. The variances this machine measures are held within tight tolerances. The PVC is monitored hourly during extrusion by our vendor to ensure the material meets these standards. Our Quality Assurance personnel check the PVC extrusions once we receive it here at Digger Specialties. Any material that fails to meet our standards is rejected. We work closely with our vendors to help improve their production processes resulting in higher quality material and fewer rejected shipments.

INTERNAL TESTING
The same attention is given to testing our product for its ability to endure in the field. We have an Accelerated Weathering Tester that simulates outdoor conditions so we may test how our products stand up over the years. This Accelerated Weathering Machine simulates the damaging conditions of exterior weathering on plastic, aluminum, and similar materials by constantly cycling the sample product between UV-radiation (from UV lamps) and moisture at higher temperatures. After a pre-set exposure time in the weathering machine, equivalent to a corresponding outdoor exposure time, the sample is removed and inspected. We test various products at different time intervals to meet all expected requirements, depending on the application. This is done to ensure our products will "stand up to the test of time" and we know our customers have a product that will last.

In addition to our internal Quality Assurance Program and our partnering efforts with our vendors, some of our products are submitted to external testing agencies for unbiased evaluation against industry-recognized standards.

Aluminum Gate Post Stiffeners - We were the first to use aluminum stiffeners in our gate posts to strenghten the product and keep it performing well and looking good for years. This idea has been copied by some of our competitors.

Aluminum Gate Reinforcement - Our gate frames are 100% reinforced with aluminum and are pre-assembled producing the best gate in the industry.

Aluminum Post Mounts with Adjustable Leveling Bolts - Our railing systems are securely attached to wooden or concrete structures with our aluminum post mounts. By using 3/8" stainless steel leveling bolts, each post can be adjusted for the perfect fit.
